Master 100-yen storage by knowing the maker (Inomata)
On Instagram, the hashtag #冷蔵庫収納 (fridge storage) blew my mind—fridges packed with tidy bins. Prepared dishes often sit in Noda enamel or iwaki Pack & Range; everything else is usually 100-yen baskets.
I even wrote about the hashtags:
Daiso Color Life baskets are the star… but hard to find
An example post shows the ivory pull-out baskets from Daiso. Solid front (hides contents) with mesh sides (light/airy)—very popular. Image-search “100 均 冷蔵庫 収納” and you’ll see them everywhere. The Color Life “lidded box” is so popular it’s sometimes out of stock; comes in ivory/white/pink/lime, with/without lids, mesh, etc.
I missed the Color Life wave
I knew it was trending but hadn’t been in a storage mood. When I finally went, two Daiso stores only had skinny versions. Maybe sold out; maybe discontinued. One type isn’t enough, so I paused the Daiso hunt.
Targeting Inomata “Name Basket” instead
We’ve long used random 100-yen baskets in cupboards. Mixing brands caused fit issues, so we tried to buy from one line—looked nicer, too. We now own 20+ pieces. The underside says Inomata Chemical. These show up at most 100-yen shops, with many sizes and a soft ivory tone I like. I wondered if better options existed or if they’d be discontinued; research made me confident we should double down.
Inomata: Osaka plastic housewares since 1978
Not just 100-yen; also sold in home centers/supermarkets. Their car-wash bucket is big on Amazon. I summarized Inomata and other plastic makers here:
/posts/domestic-100yen-shop-make
Inomata appears at almost every 100-yen chain
From that post, availability is basically universal:
| Maker | Seria | Can★Do | Watts/Silk | Daiso |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Inomata Chemical | ◯ | ◯ | ◯ | Unknown |
Daiso may skip them because it pushes Color Life.
Inomata has many basket series
All plastic makers sell similar things, but Inomata stands out in basket variety. The product site shows six storage-friendly series; the four most flexible:
Name Basket alone has 7 sizes; others have 6. Only Name Basket and Windy have the “Long” low-and-slim size that fits four across a family-fridge shelf. Colors and shapes differ—I lean Name Basket.
Below, each series at a glance.
Name Basket

- Muted colors fit any room. We use Long and Wide most.

Sherry Container

- Thick, sturdy, stackable; chic colors look good anywhere.
- Names are just numbers (651–656)—harder to remember.
| Thumb | Name | Width | Depth | Height |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 651 | 14.8 | 20.5 | 9.5 | |
| 652 | 12.1 | 20.5 | 10.8 | |

| 656 | 8.4 | 17 | 10.2 |
Windy
Colors: clear, ivory, black.
Sizes: 6.
Only series with a fully clear option—could look cheap, but fine inside a fridge.
Has a finger-hold pull; has a Long size—maybe even more functional than Name Basket.
| Thumb | Name | Width | Depth | Height |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wide | 28.1 | 17 | 12 | |
| Slim | 28.2 | 13.5 | 13 | |
| Long | 31.2 | 13.3 | 9.3 | |
| Shallow Wide | 31.2 | 22.2 | 9.3 | |
| Deep | 27.1 | 18.9 | 15 | |
| A4 flat | 35.2 | 25.4 | 9.3 |
Summary
Inomata’s site is hard to scan, so I compiled colors/shapes/sizes. Name Basket covers a huge range, but Windy looks great too (pull handle, long size, clear option). With today’s A4-sized flyers, B5-flat sizes feel less useful; swapping that for a fridge-perfect Long is smart.
For fridges, pantries, and cupboards, Inomata baskets are excellent. There’s even a hashtag #イノマタ化学—not many posts yet; maybe people don’t notice they already use them. Hope it grows!
